Tai Chi Chaun is an exercise and moving meditation with its roots based in Taoist practices and the Martial Arts. A series of movements called the Form are done in slow, relaxed manner for self development. For the body it is an exercise, for the mind it is about will power, focus and concentration, for the soul it is a spiritual meditation and for the energy body it cultivates the bodies chi. The internal energy movement (or chi movement) supports the body, its organs and meridians by keeping the energy flow more open and strengthening it.
Tai Chi has many health benefits when done as a practice. It has been purported to be beneficial for the immune system, for arthritis, high blood pressure, ulcers, constipation, bronchitis, balance, etc. etc.
Once you learn the form, you will have a sense of calm while doing Tai Chi. As you continue to practice through the years you will become very present to your internal energy flow as it builds and strengthens.
